The great Indian wedding: a satire on the aries

I will share my views on organizing the so called "BIG FAT INDIAN WEDDING". It was my daughter, Aries, marriage. And like any other father I was bit happy, a bit nervous, and somewhat perplexed of veni and vedi.

Let me reverse the pendulum, that would took you 2 weeks back. My daughter told me about her secret love and added that the groom family had just a week time for the marriage, after which they would be returning back to London, their home place.

This was the result of liberty and freedom which I gave to my daughter. Yet, a week time was bothering me much. Like every father, I too had a dream of  marrying my daughter with great pomp and show. But, just a week..oops. What can be done much? After consulting a Pandit we fixed the date. We had only couple of days left for ring ceremony. It was going to be a nasty hasty project.

We had lots of stuff left still to finalize; firstly we penned down all the guests name. Problem after problem were there, the biggest was that no offset company was ready to provide us with the wedding cards in a day time. Computer ji and Internet baba came to our rescue. Google Maharaj located an internet firm ready to help us.

Problems were still there, the next on line was that I was in dire need of a team which could help me in organizing the wedding. My wife came to my rescue, she handled the job to her relatives who cautiously took it. Please note, my elder brother stood with me throughout the pre and post wedding.

Here comes the bolt again, my elder had could not make it to the ring ceremony because of an official appointment. He assured me that he would be back for the wedding. Yet, it was the wedding, not a simple birthday party and I desperately needed the support, tension griped me. Till now my wife relatives were doing a decent job but suddenly on the ring ceremony they all collapsed as a team.

I was a fool to trust them; people from my wife side are all with some weird psychological disorders. Well the clocked struck 8pm and the guest started to pour in. My team told me that the food wasn't ready. Also, the idiotic cameraman forgot his camera rolls, adding to the disorder. And the event manager ran after seeing the failure of the team.

What can be done now? This question rang in my mind for hundreds of times. And got only one reply.. Finish of the event as fast as I can and make sure wedding goes smoothly. I called one of the guest, who was also my good friend and more precisely he owns a five star hotel. He solved mine food problem. I went to another guest, who was a professional cameraman for taking out the snapshots of the wedding. And I myself took charge as the event manager.

It was the D day now. Also, I was having the support of my elder brother who came back. We two took over all the charges. Day 1 had taught me about mismanagement. It showed me the failure of my wife team.  I, just like a student, corrected all my mistakes. I appointed a new team for the wedding on whom I had a blind trust. I took over the cameraman and my brother looked after the food.

Now its been 2 weeks since then and still people call me up and give their heartiest congratulation for the good management of the wedding. I am thinking of switching over jobs now.... who knows one day I can own an event managing firm.

It won’t last for long..!!

It’s been dark for long,
Life full of emptiness,
Shadows of past still haunting it,
Loosing has become a habit,
But, I know it won’t last for long,
soon the glooming Sun will overtook the dawn.

Once, I soared high in the sky,
Away from the reaches,
Away from the sight,
Flight has been now cut short by the powerful storm,
Wings tear and torn,
But, I know it won’t last for long,
soon the spirit of joy will overtook the fear..!!

The HERO is back..!!!

I am back finally, dormancy period has gone now. This time it took me really long to get back on mine shoes and write about mine experiences. It doesn’t mean I was not getting any good ideas but only was bit preoccupied with other stuffs or was being lazy to open windows live writer and sit down before mine laptop “ Vasu”.

Well this time around I won’t write about anything particular instead I will dedicate this blog to all those things which happened with me worth mentioning. So few of mine last blogs were either the work of copy paste or of mine co author’s. So going back to mine last blog which I wrote was about mine surgery and I am sorry for yet not publishing its final part. I will soon do that.

Well after that blog I got involved with my rigorous industrial training(IT) sessions. Due to mine surgery I wasn’t been able to do much in mine first month of holidays so now I was left with only one month of holidays to go for any industrial training. And I never wanted it to be just a casual affair, as was the case with rest of mine training batch mates.

Mine application as a trainee for 4 weeks was accepted by Hindustan Aeronautical Limited, Accessories Division, Lucknow and asked me complete some of their formalities before 1st July. Well they had only one formality to cover up and that was police verification. As a good Indian citizen I thought of first completing it through legal way but after seeing the legal procedure and all not so friendly ways I gave up and finally gave bribe. It worked and within seconds I was through police verification. Finally mine training started from 5th July in HAL. Meanwhile I joined a course in embedded system using 8051 microcontroller and like before, this time too i regretted it in the end.

I went in HAL for 11 days of mine 15 days total training time. You might be surprised so was I after knowing that the training was only of 15 days. HAL has a policy which states that the industrial trainees have to undergo 15days in-factory training and 15days out-factory training. Experience in HAL was quite good and when I communicated this to mine friends who also got themselves sometime or the other as a trainee in HAL laughed at me. I took it as their ignorance. HAL is a pool of knowledge and you have to get into the pool for absorbing it. You can’t sit and wait for someone else to really teach you something. It’s a PSU and people their got lot of work to do. They have to complete their assignments within a time limit failing which can prove to be really fatal even sacking of the employees.

Meanwhile in FB I met three people( I need not to disclosed their sex). Soon mine 72 days long holidays ended and I got the best example of Sir Albert Einstein Relativity theory. As the tradition attached with the EIE students this time too we went for a week long bunk and attended college only when our seminar date approached.

I had to present a presentation on mine IT. And don’t raise your eyebrows when I will tell you that I presented the ppt on Embedded system instead on HAL. I did so ‘coz mine college authorities wanted a 6 weeks training report and HAL was just of 4 weeks. Seminar was more of a joke and teachers raised silly not so important questions. It looked like more of a formality stuff. A good news to give too that I cleared mine 4th semester without any backlogs. This time around I was disappointed by me teachers rather then the university. Nevertheless I will keep doing good work.

Invictus

Ghana's victory over US in World Cup yesterday, coupled with the World Cup fever reminded me of Invictus movie. For those who haven't seen it yet, its a must watch - I highly recommend it.
In short, its an inspiring story of how Nelson Mandela, soon after being selected as the President, used Rugby to bring South Africa together as a nation. The movie has some amazing performance by Morgan Freeman (as always) and Matt Damon holds on his own as the South African rugby team captain who must lead his team to victory against pressure odds.
I especially loved the poem:

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
