The light turned red of the second floor OT at the Swami Vivekananda Polyclinic. With every passing moment her heart sank, thoughts crumbled and dreams shattered. Things were going all smooth for Raj and Sneha, a happily married couple with a girl child Smriti until the dreaded disclosure. 

Raj was an entrepreneur who had his hands laid out on many ventures and was making high fortunes because of his exceptional intelligentsia and energetic hard-work. Sneha was an investment banker with a multinational company prior to giving it completely to Smriti care. With few hiccups in any other marriage life things were turning out to be all together pleasant till an hour back. 

Raj life had only two passions, making high fortunes and loving his family unconditionally. Sneha equally loved Raj with utmost devotion and cared for Raj as her second child beside Smriti. Raj never asked Sneha about her past and took her as she was. Sneha too forgetting all about her past devoted her complete life to her small family.

But, her past was waiting to haunt her present. Sneha while being an investment banker in Tokyo was in a relationship with a colleague. Investment banker life involves uneasy working hours, long schedules and high work pressure. Away from her home with none for emotional support she looked to him at times of joy and sorrow. To ease out her mood now and then she got into physical relationship with her boyfriend. Sneha’s parents were against her relationship and when deserted by her boyfriend she succumbed to her family pressure of marrying Raj. 

Present Day:

Raj was working in his office attached to his house when he received a notification about a new mail from an unknown mailer id. Taking it to be a customer query mail he clicked the notification. The mail contained a video of her wife in sexually explicit act with someone unknown to him. 

Raj couldn’t believe his eyes, in dismal and pain he went straight towards her wife who was in the kitchen at the other side of the house. On his way to Sneha his legs slipped through the stairs while his mind was preoccupied with hundred mutinies. Down to ground with thousand wounds Raj only words that he could utter were “Why Sneha”?

It’s been an hour since the OT light has turned RED.

News Not Making News

 

News Not Making News is a website dedicated in letting the world know about news which must have been the news but lacked crispiness needed to be in the prime-time. 

Commercialization of media in the last decade saw a monumental increase in the number of websites, news channel, print media, etc related with news. Yet the level of content which got published deteriorated significantly. All this led to the divergence of people from those news sites. Yet the importance of websites dedicated towards providing news in this technological era of sinking time frame cannot be ignored.

News Not Making News (from here on refer as N2MN) fills the void and works on providing the news which actually matters to the public. N2MN is completely news based website irrespective of its competitors who are more or less popularity driven. N2MN acts as a voice for the weakest section of the societies. It won’t talk of the alleged affair of a celebrity actor with his co-star or it won’t contain the news about a minister or a business tycoon buying a cricket team.

N2MN talks on issues of public importance which the younger generation has forgotten in the mist of commercialization. It lets the world know about the struggle of a farmer child who makes it to the IAS or cracks CAT despite of all the hardship which he and his family had to face.N2MN acts as a platform for the world to know about any scientific invention taking place in the villages of India. Don't take it as a other gossip column but a site committed to deliver only news. 

People are consistently looking for sites which can provide them with valuable news. They want to know more and more about their city, their state and their country in quick time. N2MN will cater to those audiences who go for internet for quenching their thirst for news.

Interactive Sessions cum Informative Seminars

What an awesome last week I had. I attended three mind-boggling informative seminars cum interactive session in a short span of just 7 days. 

Races are transformed and societies are revolutionized by a mere application of ideas which have the potential to bring on a renaissance. With the same vision and to bring on the spirit of entrepreneurship in the students of IET Bhaddal, Ropar the foundation stone for Incubation Cell was laid few months back.

Living onto its objectives the Incubation Cell organized an interactive session in association with TIE, Chandigarh Chapter. Notable entrepreneur and visionary Hitesh Mandani of Bulls Eye fame in his very own demeanor told the students about if’s and buts of entrepreneurship. He highlighted the importance of positive attitude in one’s life and career. It was all-in-all a great interactive session.

Another such informative and interactive session was organized by National Social Entrepreneurship Forum (NSEF) at Punjab Engineering College. NSEF works on the principle of inculcating the idea of social entrepreneurship in the young budding entrepreneurs which can bring on a positive change across the country irrespective of being so diverse in culture. For the very same purpose it conducts Idea competitions, seminars and conferences throughout different colleges and universities in the country.

I send in my idea there which happened to bewilder me from quite a sometime now. I got really delighted after knowing that mine idea was being selected for the final round to be conducted at PEC, Chandigarh. Along-with the Idea competition it was an interactive session too as I have already mentioned. It was an awesome learning experience to hear success and failure stories of people like Ajay Chaturvedi of HarVa, Osama Manzar of Digital Empowerment Foundation and Anirudh. Nevertheless, my idea failed to make an everlasting mark on the judges’ mind yet mine was the only idea which got critics acclamation.

Believe me; it’s quite motivating to hear about failures of successful people whom you look onto as your source of inspiration. In spite of many failures they never lost the hope and stuck with what they felt was right, cleared their obstacles and become successful later in their career.

Day before yesterday, there was a commercialized personality development session arranged by my college Training & Placement Cell. I used the word commercialized because the person presiding over the session was there to sell his brand i.e. he was the owner of a company dealing with grooming students in interview skills. He was a great entertainer and orator who in a small time of one hour enchanted us with few basic but important interview skills. The only fault with him was his unwillingness to bring forward the creative part of students.

One thing I learnt from all these interactive sessions cum seminars cum competition that only one thing can drive you towards success and that is your stubborn attitude to do good, to be good and to remain open-minded always.

Rural Entrepreneurship

While researching over the topic I found “Entrepreneurs” are people who create and grow enterprises and “Entrepreneurship” is the process through which entrepreneurs create and grow enterprises. I guess the definition above suits best for a management class or the government files. Personally I feel, “Entrepreneurs” are people who have the passion and zeal to bring a qualitive change in the society through their mind boggling ideas.  And, “Entrepreneurship” is a process or more of a pathway which they take to fulfill their dreams. 

More than half of the Indian populace live in villages. Indian villages have a huge hidden potential in the fields of traditional arts and crafts, food industry and the like. Most of the rural households are involved in some or the other kind of agricultural service provider units. India's rural economy is primarily agricultural based, but the rapid rise in its population with consequent pressure on land has led the planners to lay greater emphasis on industrial development.

Rural Entrepreneurship may focus on areas like food processing which may include variety of products from various sectors comprising agriculture, horticulture, plantation, animal husbandry and fisheries & marine products. Another area which may be looked into is fruit based beverages. Products like syrups and squashes of orange, mango, lime, pineapple, grape, apple, etc. besides their jam and jelly are very popular among the masses. 

The best example of a rural entrepreneurship may include that of an Oil industry. Crushing of oil seeds to obtain edible oil for human consumption has been an age-old village industry in India.  Another example of rural entrepreneurship may include the pottery, which is traditional industry of rural India, providing employment to many artisans. 

But, one question might be creeping in your mind. That is, what good rural entrepreneurs are doing for the development of our country India? For answering this question we must first understood that there is a huge difference in the standard of life between the two India, let us call them with two different names to make the demarcation easy. The urban, which is more developed, can be called in as the India and its rural counterpart which needs an urgent development can be called as Bharat. So, rural entrepreneurs are doing their bit in order to fill the divide between the India and the Bharat.

Policies like micro-finance are filling the empty pockets of villagers to start-up their own small scale businesses besides giving them a financial security. Rural Entrepreneurship has the power of making rural populace self sufficient which may help in reducing migration of people from villages to cities, thus reducing congestion of resources in cities and towns.

The post contains the agenda of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell which is written, edited and drafted by me.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY


Agrata, a Sanskrit word meaning Leadership completely defines the Entrepreneurship Development Cell. Students are our country's future and the Cell intends to nurture them, provide them with opportunities for excellence. It intends to demystify the working of corporate for students to better understand and emulate, to let the budding entrepreneurs get a feel of how the corporate world works. In all it is the cherished dream of the EDC to create corpocrats (corporates + technocrats) out of the present day technocrats.


• VISION

- The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of IET ROPAR will have the objective of creating, fostering and promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship among the students of the college.

- EDC will aim at developing the spirit of entrepreneurship among the students of IET Ropar.

- It wants not only to ignite the minds but also to nurture the ideas of the students.

- EDC is committed to build a strong platform for the budding entrepreneurs.

- The vision is to guide the students to take entrepreneurship as a career, as a path to success, as a journey of wisdom.

• MISSION

- It will invite various eminent entrepreneurs to deliver lectures to educate students about the joys and hardships of entrepreneurship.

- Guest Lectures, Business Plan workshops, Case study workshops, Knowledge Camps, will be conducted throughout the year to involve students in activities that are essential to an entrepreneur.

- EDC will also actively incubate startup ideas by linking the right investors with the right entrepreneurs.
