Freedom of Expression

Freedom of expression has no geographical limitation and it carries with it the right of a citizen to exchange thought with others in India was a landmark Supreme Court judgement. Freedom of expression is not only important for individual dignity but also it caters to accountability in a politically democratic country like ours. The right lets an individual to express his/her views and opinions freely without any hesitation.

Yet at times we encounter situations where we felt infringement on our fundamental right. Not only societies, groups or individuals try to curb our voice but also government and elected representatives leaves no stone upturn in order to suppress our rightful stand.

If you are a boy and on to it a student than your life would have been regulated by two monstrous individuals. One a girl who happens to be your girlfriend and the other the cruel college in which you try your best to study. It’s hard for a boy to understand that why he can’t be right before his girl? Why his every move needs a scrutiny? And, why he can’t use his freedom of expression?

On the other hand his college admin strive their best in functioning in a more or less barbaric way curtailing all little freedom of expression he enjoys. He can’t use social networking, video sharing and a plethora of sites because out of 1 crore sites in the virtual world except his college site all others are being blocked for no realistic reason in support.

Even, being a boy you can’t express your feelings to someone you like from the opposite sex again because someone damned came up with Majnu bhagao Gang which happens to be a direct attack on an individual right to expression. Also, it’s hard to digest the fact that people in Thailand, a country smaller than Madya Pradesh (I may be wrong in statistics) boasts of enjoying all sorts of freedom of expression. People can wear any type and size of dresses without any restrictions. How good it would have been for boys living there :D

I happen to bounce back on few of the latest regulations which even the government is considering for checking the fundamental right of expression. The authorities in India are considering making it a criminal offence to insult Mahatma Gandhi after a new biography sparked fresh speculation about his sexual preferences. Also, the government has sought to control the free flow of information on the internet, especially on the social network websites.

So, may be my post confront the college, girlfriend (Please note: I’m single) and government thoughts who may come up with strict laws against the post.

Corruption: Part 1

Over the last few months the word Corruption is been consistently in the news. The word baffled me enough to look for its actual meaning. And, I must say that no other site would quench your thirst better then the Wikipedia.
We must comprehend our-self with few basic things before showing our support for mass movements like the one we witnessed last week. Never get carry away with such movements. We should bind this in our mind that wiping out an evil like corruption will take years. Yet, movements against social evils like corruption acts as an igniter and more of a catalyst to start a process which will definitely yield an output in the long run.
Wikipedia informed me that corruption is of several types; it may be a political, social, police, spiritual, corporate, linguistic, etc. More of I came to know that the most common type of corruption is Political. And, in a democratic country like ours the political corruption is the root cause of all other corruption. So if we truly want to throw off corruption from our country than we must strive hard to bring a political change.
Sometimes, I get tormented by an illogical reasoning that corruption follows a lower order hierarchy i.e. from bottom to top. Such type of baseless thinking is totally inane. A middle class person never gives bribe to an official willingly. He succumbs to the pressure and compromises with the corrupt system. Even, the official taking bribe is under constant pressure to supply funds to his senior. And, this cycle continues to only end after reaching a minister. That means for eradicating corruption we must eradicate corrupt ministers as he/she is the only person who favors corruption willingly.
Voting alone has the power of bringing a positive change in the democracy. We must thank our constitution makers who bestowed us with this precious gift. But, every boon comes with an equal responsibility. If we don’t vote than we lose our moral right of speaking against the government.
I found a two-fold use of voting when I came to know about several districts in moist affected areas where people boycotted the last general elections. We must declare that if in 5 years time the ruling political party fails to live onto the people expectations or the promises which they did before coming into power remains unfulfilled than there will be a country wide boycott of the general elections.
Another way is to crisp up the things. We must force the government in bringing out a law that will accuse the major political party running the government of carelessness if any during the 5 year tenure which will further result in cancellation of nomination paper of the MP’s of the concerned party in the next general elections.
Next Part will throw more insight on the topic Corruption. Click here to read it

Communal Politics: Politics of Hatred

Political parties can be broadly divided into three forms: the right, the left and the middle. The right parties, as per the critics, follow the path of majority religion appeasement.  Whereas, the left parties follow the path of communalism. The middle parties don’t go either way. India, the world largest democracy, has all the three forms of political parties.

Communal politics is the politics based on the religious ground for attaining short-term selfish goals. India has been tormented from the very idea of communal politics since time immortal. It created havoc in the form of partition. India was partitioned on religious lines because of the wide spread resentment created in the minds of Muslims by the Muslim League. But, the hysteria created by communal politics vanishes in no time. The Muslim League disappeared from the political arena soon; a Party which created a country did not survive longer than a decade.

In the 80’s a new wave of political statistics came in the forefront. BJP started calling itself messiah of Hindus. Also, the circumstances happened to help the BJP. Hindus were quite annoyed by the minority appeasement policies of the ruling Congress. BJP sensed the political scenario and started luring the majority Hindu community with its Ram Mandir campaign. The result was the demolition of Babri Masjid followed by the countrywide communal riots, killing thousands of innocent people.

So, does the BJP only to blame for the communal politics?

No, BJP alone cannot be blamed for the rise of communal politics in India. The short-sighted minority appeasement policy of Congress vexed the majority community. Adding fuel to it was the introduction and implementation of Mandal Commission. Also, many regional parties like Akali Dal, Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party and others were created on religious lines. Their main political motto till date is to create hysteria and follow a path of animosity.

Does the country gained anything from the communal politics?

No, instead of gaining the country suffered economically and emotionally due to the increased hatred among its citizens causing many riots in the name of religion and community. Many innocent countrymen lost there life.
It’s true that the communal parties may succeed in creating a mass hysteria but it soon gets discredited and diluted. No amount of efforts can revive them. Their followers are deserting them and once their vote bank is getting lost in the mist. Politics in the form of hate cannot sustain for long.

INDIA of my dreams

Well tomorrow i have to give a 1 min. speech on this topic so i thought of sharing it in my blog. In 1 min. i think i might be able to speak around one and a half page with full expression an zeal. So here I am

India of my dreams.. India the largest and biggest democracy in the world, an emerging technological hub and lots of development going on yet full of corruption. People still fight on the linguistic dimensions , education and medicines still remain for most country men unaffordable. Yet our PM says we are developing. Media busy in highlighting the previous day night parties and politicians busy on making the democracy "Gunda raaj".
I want India to be self reliable, free from any defects mention earlier. A country where surname doesn't depicts the caste of a person. No demarcations between fellow Indian's on the basis of language, caste, creed, sex, and work. Where its ministers can meet its people fearlessly. A place where education comes first. A Country where voters use their franchise on the basis of the leader's potential to help its people and not because he is a son of the ruling party.
Rabindranath Tagore expressed it beautifully in his words:
"Where the mind is without fear
and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been
broken up into fragments by
narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from
the depth of truth;c

Can't we re-unite Again?

India and Pakistan... ahh the brothers separated by a boundary of hatred.

Why cant we unite again by forgetting our past?

This will not be the first case in the history where two countries have united again.  Brutish Britishers and incompetency of our leaders malign our country to such a level where partitioned was the only respite. But, that was more than 63 years ago. So, don't you think it's the right time to burn our hatred and join hands together for a better future?

The hysteresis of partition led to several wars fought in between the two countries hindering the progress of both the nations. Also, cross border terrorism and trafficking led to several other problems which are by no means good for any of the country. Instead of peace talks why not our policy maker's device a policy forming a single nation again.

Why not bring Sri Lanka, Bangaldesh, and Bhutan also a beneficiary of the treaty. I know there is an organization named SAARC, but we all know that it only exists in conference hall and in big talks. I haven't included Nepal because informally they are a part of India.

The new country can be called as the INDIAN SUBCONTINENT. The country capital can be shifted to Mumbai or New Delhi can continue to hold its stature. Democracy should prevail in such a re-union.

Well I know such a policy and plan will never come into the minds of our politician's and media because if such a plan is implemented then for what will they ask vote for, as in our country and also in our neighborhood the politics of hatred is only carried out. Also media won't let such a plan be implemented 'coz that will remove their basic news- terrorism and news of folly.
