Long Time

Today, unexpectedly life forced me to think why I was born? Don’t know the reason why such weird thoughts sprang up in my brain. Thought much… I did… yeah thought much… I was a near about good student, loved geography… & physics too (quantum still fascinates me to the core)… that made me go against my parents wishes when I took science as majors. Don’t know what made me choose engineering as a career path… still those were my life revolutionary days. Revolutionary... by work & by thoughts... really… I know the 13 letter word revolutionary by both meaning and essence. Don’t teach me that !

Back then, I use to have dreams of bringing on a change… something that would catapult new ideas, bring in new avenues for growth and above all motivate people for sustainable and cohesive development. Breaking the past, those were the days when nights were spend thinking IDEAS and days visualizing their flow. Cherished them !

What I am unto now? Have I lost track? Is my present strong enough to hold my future? Aren’t I’m ruining my past? Revolution… where it stands now?

My mind isn’t able to answer my soul hundred such questions. It wants to be free… free of questions… free of floodgates… that oppose its flow… flow of those beautiful thoughts that once I cherished.

…. will continue

Disclaimer : I'm a human being... I ramble too, at times !

Cryptic Me

I am more dead than alive
Frozen in the midst of pain
Restraining any flow
Interring the awaken soul

I am more bounded than free
Enslaved with closed floodgates
Callous I lay
Blemishing the heavenly soul

I am more a demon than human
Darkened by the glaze of triumph
Ravishing the sanctified trek
Alienating HIS divinity

Weakest Democracy

Selecting a less musty apple from a bunch of stale fruit would eventually lead to severe health problems. Same is true while electing a sleazy candidate as a nominee of yours in the government to frame rules and regulations for you. Choosing a bad from worse won’t solve a country’s problem. However, it can vitiate the present system of governance to even much pernicious state.

India’s soi-disant Mahatma once criticized the representative democracy as emblems of slavery. He added that it is a superstition and an ungodly thing to believe that an act of a majority binds a minority. 59% Indians turnout to vote in the last general election that were held in 2009. Mathematically that meant 41 percent of adult Indian voters refused to take part in elections. Approximately 37% out of 59% voted for the Congress to rule over them. 15% Indian voters went with NDA while the rest voted for the third front. Ironically, the biggest share was of those Indian voters who didn’t want any political party to rule.

Yet, the UPA government with a minority of votes claimed the right to govern i.e. rule the whole of India. Such obtrusion of human rights isn’t new to India. India claims to be largest democratic country in the world still views of large educated section of the society are unheard purposely. Democracy by definition means the government by people. That means there must be an alternative if majority of people aren’t in support of any political party ruling over them.

A question peeps out in my mind that when majority of adult educated Indians aren’t in support of a mass plebiscite in the form of general or assembly elections than why are we bearing down the load of democracy? Isn’t it stupid than to pay tax from your hard earned money in order to run a democratic alliance formed by minority of people? Often we hear various governments using misleading word “consent of the people” as a refuge to hide their incompetence. Consent of the people is again a very perturbing notion. Did Indians signed any legislative document or agreed upon any contract?

As a whole it all looks gloomy and imaginary like a fairy tale and we are forced to not only accept but also respect it. Also, why never did the majority that didn’t want any political party to rule over them revolted against this brutal practice? The answer is simple yet complicated. Majority of Indians never cared whether their country follows democratic principles or some other form of governance. The government never allowed majority of Indians to take an active role in the formation of government. Fallacious stories like politics is dirty were furnished from the beginning to prevent educated Indians to take an active part. Involving educated people directly in the mainstream political scenario of the country was always resisted. Instead, services involving government like banks, railways, etc. were created to make people work under an authoritarian rule.

What’s the solution? It’s hard to reap out completely an established form of draconian practice. The best possible way I see is not to vote. Still there are minority of people believing in a failed democratic dictatorship and will go out to vote.

I saw her

Today, while sitting alone
Gazing the blue sky
With lenticular clouds around
And meandering shapes
Her aroma
Carried with Zephyr
Stirred the blood
And deluged the emotions

Her sensation
To relived the past

Out of a clear sky
It started to rain
Crippling her reflections

Through the spectral colors
For the last time
I saw her
Any resemblance to living or dead is purely adventurous...

Grinded into the dust

Read the preparatory post @ With No Preparation
My Workplace @ WizIQ Learner's Blog

My dreams were smashed to smithereens yesterday when I had logged in to check my CAT 2011 result. I sat for the top notch entrance exam few months back as the first customary step to fulfill my dream of getting into the best B-school in India. Cracking CAT is the first step towards chasing your MBA dream as it paves way into one of the best management institutes of the country, the Indian Institutes of Management or IIM’s.

Around 1.85 lakh candidates took the test over a 20-day testing window across 36 cities from mid-October out of which nine were successful enough to secure 100 percentile in the Common Admission Test this year. And, here I’m licking the dust all around. I never thought of making it into this year coveted list except in my dreams where I thought God blessing me with HIS supreme powers and getting me an easy access to the IIM’s. Yet the dismal of not being selected vex me.

licking the dust all around

This post contains the autopsy report that I prepared to know about my weakest links and areas that I needed to improve if I want myself into one of those Mecca of management studies in India. After going through various CAT coaching websites after the initial CAT exam I speculated of getting something around 80-85 percentile but then destiny had some other plans for me and I hardly managed to get somewhat around 70 percentile. A 10 percentile steep fall startled me completely and compelled me to diagnose my footfalls.

Failures are stepping stone to success

The gravest mistake I happen to commit was not getting enrolled for any mock tests provided by almost every coaching institute. I had my own reservations behind that but at last it’s the end results that matters the most, where unfortunately my technique collapsed. To every CAT aspirants please before the actual test sit for some mock tests that may eventually help you in easing out the pressure and letting you know about your preparedness for the CAT. Mock tests make you learn from your mistakes and ensure that you don’t commit them in future.

Secondly, I scored badly in Data interpretation (DI) where the certainty of having more than one close answer dilapidated me completely. For solving questions on DI accurately one must fully get himself versed with all sorts of graphs, schemes, plans, etc. Nothing else other than practice can save your sinking boat . The busy schedule of engineering tolled with major project in the last semester proved a big hindrance to my path towards achieving mastery at DI. But excuses are the nails used to build a house of failure. Consistent practice increases the accuracy and speed needed to improve this section that comes through lot of practice papers.

Excuses are the nails used to build a house of failure

Thirdly, the Quantitative section though junior classes based still needs a thorough understanding of mathematical formulas.  Lack of practice made it harder for me to recall the important formulas when I needed them the most. Adding to the mayhem were the close options the question paper contains where judging the answer closely won’t matter until you bang on the target. I never understood how the psychometric analysis works while differentiating a closed option from the correct one. In any case it’s always better to go for the right option than for a closed one. I guess that in my case the majority answers clicked were closed but not correct.

even an ant works hard to get her food

Lastly, passion is great for cracking the CAT yet a strong dedication and commitment which comes from regular and discipline study are vital  prerequisite for good score. One must study for around 2 hours a day continuously to get ones foot set before the D-day. I know it' gets really hard for working professionals to dugout time from there busy schedule but then I cannot have everything served to me directly in my mouth; even an ant works hard to get her food.  You take out time, study daily, prepare well and make it to IIM’s.

Isn’t that simple?

I won’t get disillusioned by this year debacle of mine at CAT as they say, Success is how high you bounce when you hit the bottom.” Will surely learn from my past mistakes and try to put afar the dark clouds looming over me.
